When the Stars created Earth, they considered it their crowning achievement. Though Roedanya and Pharos together joined their hands in all, their children did not often show the same teamwork. Earth’s creation signaled the first and only moment each and every Star contributed to a single project.
You see, Earth was dear to the Stars — so dear, in fact, that they came to an agreement.
The Stars had been known for eons for their passive stance. The I’non-em, for example—who guarded the Stars and fought demons—were said to be in service to the Stars, yet they did not know their benefactors’ names or faces.
However, after establishing phaeries as the primary species to inherit Earth, the Stars made the decision to maintain contact with their creations rather than leave as they normally would.
Phaeries called this time of communication with the Stars at the beginning of the world The Eternal Night, and during this time, the Stars lavished the phaeries with gifts.
First and foremost was magic — light magic similar to that the Stars themselves wielded, in a much smaller capacity. But not every phaerie was gifted equally, as various Stars took it upon themselves to gift the phae that pleased them best.
